When it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) there is a lot of information and mis-information on getting your webite seen. But the most critical component of how a search engine ranks your website has never changed - the number of quality "inbound links"(highlighted anchor-text on websites that lead to your website) coming from other popular websites.
While many (in)famous "black-hat tactics" (techniques used to attempt to fool search engine ranking methods) have been successfull in the past, these types of rankings never last for more than a few months (though this author has seen ones that last over a year) but certainly many would agree, black hat tactics are not a way to build a long-term business. Often, we see many of these types of sites selling other online ads, erectile dysfunction pills, link farms (businesses who sell or trade links) and online casinos, just to name a few.
So how does one ethically get and obtain quality links from other well trafficked websites?
Simply, we have learned that the most affordable and effective way is to create quality inbound links through online distribution of press releases that are specifically optimized for Search Engines, Web-based News Feeds, and Blogs. These often well-trafficked publications then post your press release on their online properties, meaning you've just gained numerous inbound links from other websites that are related to your targeted-content subject matter and who have a high "Page Rank" (meaning they themselves are highly ranked in Search Engines). And you did it all ethically while spreading the name of your brand and company's product.
Because ultimately, this is what the Search Engines want. They are consistently updating their code to fight back against black hat tactics to ensure that the top ranking websites for certain relevant keywords are from websites that are popular enough to be mentioned by other popular websites.
* We are seeing Google severely punish (by setting PR to Zero) those affiliate programs that have bloggers "paid per post."
